Sideline Behavior Expectations

Ahead of the outdoor season it is necessary to remind members that there is an expectation, at all times, of appropriate behavior that is consistent with Kincardine Minor Soccer's Core Values. We want to ensure a safe and positive environment for all members and visitors to this club. The following list outlines some key expectations/behaviors that should be encouraged and others that should be strongly avoided.

As members of this Club and of Ontario Soccer, you are expected to follow the Club Code of Conduct , and all Ontario Soccer Procedures, behaviors that violate these documents may be met with disciplinary action from the Club or a governing body.

Parents/spectators are encouraged to promote and exhibit the following behaviors:

  • Supportive Behavior – Supportive parents encourage their children, cheer for all players, and contribute to a positive atmosphere that enhances the game experience for everyone involved.
  • Respect – At all times during games (home or away) you are representing the Club. Kincardine Minor Soccer spectators are encouraged to show respect towards all participants within in the game including; Kincardine Players/Coaches, Opposing Players/Coaches, Match Officials, all spectators.
  • Sportsmanship – Encourage athletes to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence. Respect the decisions and judgements of officials and encourage athletes to do the same.

The Club has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the following behaviors:

  • Distracting Behavior – Interfering with player focus by coaching from the sidelines or shouting instructions. This can often confuse young athletes in game situations, and can conflict with instructions/behaviors that the coaching staff want to see from players.
  • Hostile Behavior – Yelling at referees, coaches, players, or other spectators. This type of behavior is damaging and detracts from the game experience for all. Abuse of any participant or spectator of the game will not be tolerated, and will be met with disciplinary action by the Club or higher governing body.
  • Entering the Field of Play – All spectators are prohibited from entering the field of play at any time, including pre-game, during gameplay, or post-game.
