Only one month away from the 2023 summer soccer season! We can’t wait to see all the players back on the pitch! This newsletter is jampacked full of season updates so please be sure to read the whole thing.

Evaluation Day

Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 players are invited to attend our evaluation day on May 13th at the Bruce Ave soccer fields by the dog park.

The evaluation day provides an opportunity for us to see the players before we finalize the teams for this season. This is one extra step we take to ensure the teams are fair, we also look at attendance, birth year, parent’s ratings and coach ratings from the previous season.

Evaluation day will look a little different this year, players will participate in a 20-30 minute scrimmage wearing numbered pinnies. Evaluators will watch for ball control, comfort level, endurance, and other soccer skills (passing, shooting, etc.).

Scrimmage Times:

Under 8 (Mixed and Girls): 9AM – 9:50AM, Under 12 fields 4A and 4B by the dog park

Under 10 (Mixed and Girls): 10AM – 10:50AM, Under 12 fields 4A and 4B by the dog park

Under 12 (Mixed and Girls): 11AM – 11:50AM, Under 12 fields 1 and 2 by the dog park

The evaluators and executive members will finalize the teams on the afternoon of May 13th.

Jerseys and Equipment

2020 Birth Year, Under 4, Under 5 and Under 6 players will receive a jersey, shorts and socks from Timbits soccer. They need shin pads and running shoes or soccer cleats.

Under 8 and Under 10 players need 1 orange and 1 grey shirt, any shirts will do but you can purchase official jerseys from Kincardine Home Hardware. Players need shin pads, shorts, socks, and running shoes or soccer cleats.

Under 12, Under 15, Under 18 and Women’s players need 1 official Kincardine & District Minor Soccer orange jersey, you can purchase these from Kincardine Home Hardware. Players also need shin pads, black shorts, black socks and soccer cleats. You need to ask for Lakeshore jerseys at the Customer Service desk.

Jersey Numbering

Under 12, Under 15, Under 18 and Women’s jerseys need a number on the back. When you purchase jerseys this year they won’t have a number, the Executive will be scheduling jersey numbering days at the concession stand, where you can bring your jersey and we will put a number on the back. This will happen in the first two weeks of the season, and we will coordinate times with the coaches.

Under 8 and Under 10 Girls House League

This season we are struggling to field enough players for our under 8 girls house league program and enough coaches for both the under 8 and under 10 programs. The executive is considering combining the age groups to create a better-quality program and to ensure we have enough coaches for each team. By combining the leagues, we could have 6 teams of 16 players and a coach for each team.

Families will receive an email this week with the league options and a request for feedback. We will be deciding by Friday April 28th, so we ask that you please respond to the email as soon as possible.

Under 12 Mixed Lakeshore League Coach Needed

We have enough kids for 4 teams of 15 players for the Under 12 Mixed league but unfortunately, we only have 3 coaching teams. If we don’t find another coaching team, we will have to switch to 3 teams of 20 or 21 players each for this season or move some players down to the Under 10 Mixed league. If you are interested in coaching, please let us know as soon as possible at kincardineminorsoccer@gmail.com

Timbits Coaches

We are still searching for coaches for our Timbits programs. If you know anyone interested in coaching this summer, please have them contact kincardineminorsoccer@gmail.com as soon as possible.
